Sharon and Ted Kotler and their modern-meets-mountain home are featured in the September issue of the Laurel of Asheville magazine. A beautiful photo spread accompanies the article, which touts the couple's understanding of "thoughtful design" and working relationship with their architect, designer and local crafts community.

Each year, the Woodfin Police Department organizes a drive to provide school supplies and back-to-school clothing and shoes for area students in need. This year, Reynolds Mountain residents Tom and Lee Chapman hosted an open house, collecting supplies and raising money to augment the Town's efforts. The result was an overwhelming success. Back-to-school donations filled an SUV and the Chapmans collected $1100 to be used to help fund the free lunch program. Thanks to the Woodfin Police Department and the generosity of people like the Chapmans and their neighbors at Reynolds Mountain, dozens of children in Woodfin will have the tools and clothing they need to start a successful new school year.

The YMCA of Western North Carolina is hosting Bagels and Banter, presented by Crescent PPO, with the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce at the new Neighborhood YMCA at Woodfin in Reynolds Village on Thursday, July 30 from 8-9am. This event was formerly known as Doughnuts and Dialogue.
This is your chance to see the new Neighborhood YMCA at Woodfin and enjoy a quick and healthy breakfast. Leah McGrath, the Ingles dietitian, will discuss healthy meal ideas, and will be presenting with Mayor Terry Bellamy during the breakfast.
Bagels and Banter provides an opportunity for the YMCA to showcase the community-building work Pioneering Healthier Community Committees are doing in the Asheville area. Attendees will learn about a variety of groups including schools, businesses, and local government that are involved in making Asheville a healthier place to live, work, and play.
Check the website for additional event details www.ymcawnc.org. Bagels and Banter is free for Chamber members and just $10 (cash or check) for non-members. For more information, contact Kristen Weaver, director of association wellness, at (828) 210-9658 or kweaver@ymcawnc.org.
